Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
I've tried to read this book once before...but it is one helluva book in terms of size and detail. Now that I'm almost 3/4 of the way through the second time, I'll say that I'm glad I started again.
It's an excellent book, in the same vein as Harry Potter, though for adults. There is also a "story within the story" throughout the footnotes so be sure that you read those too.
Get the new paperback version though...much easier to handle and a lot smaller!
